Ryanair Experienced A +769.52% Increase in Flight Movements

Last week, Ryanair experienced a +769.52% increase in flight movements, as air travel demand begins to spike upwards and onwards. 

This comes as no surprise, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic coming to an end, and governments opening up their countries for air travel again. 

Numbers for last week were strong to the point that Ryanair appears to be at a full recovery. 

The Numbers

For March 26-April 2, 2022, Ryanair recorded 2,739 flights, which is +769.52% more than the same period last year, which was recorded at just 315 flights.

The 315 flights in 2021 were more than the 81 recorded in 2020, which was effectively when the world had shut down. 

One significant thing about the 2022 numbers is that it is higher than the same period in 2019, which reflects further growth than in the pre-pandemic stage. 

March 19-26 was even more successful for the carrier, with 2,172 flights recorded, representing a staggering +1,148.28% increase compared to the same period last year. 

What does this mean for Ryanair?

These numbers put Ryanair in good stead for the upcoming Summer 2022 season, to which there is an expectation that such flight numbers will increase.

It will be interesting to see how the airline fares, especially with Group CEO Michael O'Leary expecting a good year after a turbulent few years. 

But for now, all we can do is sit back and wait and see what happens with the carrier, and to also see how smooth the next few months will go for the carrier.
